            “In the early 1930’s the Braumart had ‘the Butler Kids’ featured and held an audition. They had a large turnout and 9 girls were picked (you had to know how to tap dance). My sister LaVerne and I, ages 10 and 12, could dance so we went and were chosen. We practiced one day and the next day put on two shows. The Butler Kids wore blue satin pajamas and we wore pink.

            It has been a lovely memory and some of the girls and I wrote to each other for a while…”
